What Is Premature Ejaculation? - How to Treat and Prevent it?

What Is Premature Ejaculation?

There is no fixed time when a man should ejaculate during sex. But it’s too soon if you have an orgasm before intercourse or a few minutes after you start. It’s a big problem because when you ejaculate, you suffer your erection and can’t continue having sex. You and your partner or lover feel there’s not enough time to enjoy it.
Premature Ejaculation (PE) happens when a man reaches orgasm and ejaculates too immediately and without control. In other words, Ejaculation happens before a man wants it to happen. It may occur before or after starting intercourse or foreplay. Some men experience a lot of individual distress because of this situation.
As many as 1 in 5 men experience a problem with uncontrolled or early Ejaculation at a remarkable point in life. When PE happens so frequently that it interferes with the sexual pleasure of a man or his partner, it becomes a medical problem.
Many factors may contribute to PE. Psychological symptoms such as stress, depression, and additional factors that affect mental and emotional health can aggravate this condition. However, there is increasing evidence that biological factors can make some men more prone to experience premature ejaculation. Rarely, premature ejaculation can be caused by a particular physical problem, like inflammation of the prostate gland or a spinal cord problem.

Premature Ejaculation can be classified as:

Lifelong (Major): Lifelong premature ejaculation happens all or nearly all of the time starting with your first sexual activity.
Acquired: Acquired premature ejaculation develops after you've had prior sexual experiences without ejaculatory problems or difficulties.
Many men feel that they have symptoms of PE, but the signs don't meet the diagnostic criteria for Premature Ejaculation. Instead, men might have natural variable premature ejaculation; it includes times of rapid ejaculation as well as periods of normal Ejaculation.

Early sexual experiences
Depression
Sexual abuse
Poor body image
sexual encounters
Worrying about PE
Guilty feels that increase your tendency to rush through

Anxiety: Several men with premature Ejaculation plus have difficulties with anxiety — either specifically about sexual the performance or related to different issues.
Relationship problems: If you have had supportive sexual relationships with other partners in which premature ejaculation happened infrequently or not at all, it's possible that interpersonal issues between you and your current partner are contributing to the problem.

What are the ways to treat or prevent Premature Ejaculation?

Keep in mind that anyone can experience sexual difficulties. If you feel premature ejaculation, try not to blame yourself and feel inadequate. Try conversing openly with your partner to avoid miscommunication. If you’re excited in delaying Ejaculation, there are several strategies or ways you can try.

Psychological therapy

If psychological problems are causing PE, therapy to address those psychological causes is likely to be helpful. You can also merge therapy with behavioral and medication-based treatment methods.

Behavioral strategies

These methods help some men stop Ejaculation on their own:

The Squeeze Method

During sexual activity, your partner or lover stimulates you until just before the point of Ejaculation. Your lover then squeezes your penis where the head meets the shaft until you no longer want to ejaculate. Then you can stay with intercourse and repeat this pattern 2 to 4 times. This strategy benefits you become familiar with your body’s emotions so that you can have more control over them.

The Start-and-Stop Method

This process is similar to The Squeeze Method, except instead of squeezing your penis, your partner finishes stimulating. Once you have moved past the urge to ejaculate, you resume intercourse. Repeating this pattern three times and then ejaculating on the fourth time will help train your body to delay Ejaculation.

Wearing Condoms

Wearing condoms can decrease the impressions on your penis, which could be beneficial for delaying Ejaculation.

Medications

Even though phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors are not FDA-approved to treat PE, they are FDA-approved to treat Erectile Dysfunction. If ED turns out to be the source or beginning of PE, your doctor will treat the ED first. If you have PE or ED, a PDE-5 inhibitor like Sildenafil may prove beneficial or useful.
Additional treatment for premature ejaculation include medications such as Dapoxetine (Duratia 30 mg, 60 mg, 90 mg, Poxet 30 mg, 60 mg, 90 mg). An extra option is to apply numbing creams such as lidocaine and Emla (lidocaine or prilocaine) direct on the genitals to help delay premature ejaculation.
Treating erectile dysfunction may make the premature ejaculation go away. There are various options, including drugs like Sildenafil citrate (Viagra), Tadalafil (Cialis) and Vardenafil (Levitra). All of these help men maintain an erection.

Antidepressants

Remember learning that the chemical serotonin can support delay Ejaculation? Well, a specific type of antidepressant called a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) grows serotonin levels in the brain. As a result, SSRIs have the side effect of preventing orgasm.
